THE BEACH RESPONSIBLY PROJECT

A beach clean-up dedicated to keeping our local beaches clean, while creating a community that can grow beyond the beach.

Our Mission

The Beach Responsibly Project was created based on our love for beach days. The more time we spent in the sand, the more we saw how much gets left behind. Located in St.Petersburg, Florida, our community relies heavily on our coastline and keeping them clean is a top priority for us. Our mission here is simple; If you’re going to beach, do it responsibly.

How we plan to make a difference in our community

  • Gathering our local community to participate in beach clean-up events.
  • Educate our local and visiting communities about what it means to beach responsibly.
  • Find creative ways to inspire others to respect their environment, on and off the beach.
  • Collaborate, celebrate, and enjoy the coast. Tackling pollution begins with us.

some numbers for you

0T
An astounding 5.25 trillion plastic items already exist in our oceans (National Geographic).
0%
Of plastic is made from fossil fuels
0%
Of all studied marine debris is plastic. (IUCN, 2020)
0x
The Global Plastic Production increase in past decades.
0x
Plastic in the oceans could wrap around the Earth 400 times.
While these numbers may be difficult to imagine. There's still time to make a change. It starts by bringing people together within our community and teaming up to make a difference.

STAY CLEAN AND COOL OUT THERE

  • Things get left behind sometimes and that’s ok, mistakes happen. Here are some simple ways to avoid it.
  • Pack up your gear prior to sunset. Breaking down with a little daylight makes a huge difference. Its easy to leave things behind in the dark.
  • Cutout the single use plastics. Plan your day in advance and bring only what you need. To help with this, we suggest going to Publix after breakfast, not before. :)
  • Bring your own trash bag. Not only will you be collecting your own waste but you’ll be more enticed to pick up things that you find along the way.
